“You’re an investor?” is typically followed by several false assumptions! These assumptions often sound like this:
- Does that mean you are rich?
- Don’t you have to have money to be an investor?
- That sounds easy!
- That’s a get rich quick scheme!
In our family we often laugh about a meme that I saw one day that went a little something like: being an entrepreneur is great because you get to choose which 20 hours in a day you want to work. I was not able to find the author to give the quote credit, but it is something that holds true. Being an entrepreneur, specifically an investor, means a lot of things. It means:
- Working every day, night, weekends and holidays while getting started
- It means having a way to support yourself while the business gets started
- Knowing that sometimes you’ll be building fences, painting, and finishing all the work that still needs to be done to keep on a budget
- Furthering education
- Finding creative ways to pay for projects
Being an investor is challenging in ways that we could not describe without taking you on a walk through our shoes. Although challenging, it is also an extremely rewarding career path. To be able to relieve the financial stress by purchasing homes from people who have no other option has a special place in our heart. Helping someone find their dream home that we just renovated is a type of joy that can only come from helping others. Building someone’s dream home or finally breathe after financial relief is what makes being a real estate investor special.
